Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria The Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was established in January 2002 as an additional financial mechanism to the existing programs on Tuberculosis, Malaria and AIDS. The purpose of the Global Fund is to involve, manage and allot additional resources through new governmental, private partnership; the mentioned partnership providing reliable and necessary aid to reduce prevalence, case and death number, may reduce HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria effect to the poor countries and create conditions to reduce poverty within the actions to achieve the purposes of the Declaration of Millennium. To embody its partnership among governmental and private sector, the Management Board of the Global Fund includes official representatives of the countries, non-governmental organizations and communities directly suffered from the epidemic. The Secretariat and its two cosponsors (WHO and World Bank) are the members having no voting right of the Management Board. The Global Fund coordinates its activity with governments, civil society, non-governmental organization, UNAIDS, private sector and other donor agencies. The Global Fund bringing the regions with more number of cases into force, uses its resources proportionally, besides, it unites its efforts in the regions where the case became epidemic form. The Global Fund having carried two rounds of discussion of the offers up to day, has transferred 1.5 billion US Dollars to 85 countries for the period more than two years. About 60 % of the allotted funds is designed to finance the programs of HIV/AIDS prevention. At present, the Global Fund has made announce about acceptance of the offers for the eighth round.
