: About PIU

Ministry of Health signed the Order No. 136 dated October 29, 2004 related to establishment of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to implement the project “Scaling-up the Response to HIV/AIDS in Azerbaijan” funded by the Global Fund.

Accordingly, pursuant the Order No. 144 dated November 10, 2004, the Ministry of Health formed Selection Commission led by Deputy Minister of Health consisting of health organizations, UN agencies and NGOs to value candidates for different positions in PIU. The content of the PIU was confirmed under the Order No. 147 of the Ministry of Health dated November 15, 2004.

The content of the PIU include the following specialists:

DUTIES OF PIU :

• To coordinate all activities of the project;

• To inform the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic (Ministry of Health), CCM, Global Fund and LFA of current situation and the stages of carrying out of the project;

• Promotion of the goals and strategy of the project within the Ministry of Health and the general public;

• Be responsible for the establishment and functioning of financial and accounting procedures and procurement procedures of the PIU in accordance Global Fund regulations;

• Evaluate the performance of Sub-Recipients and ensure that they deliver what are agreed in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
