Workshop by assessment of the National HIV Monitoring and Evaluation System was held in Baku [ 27.05.2010 ]

On 26- 27 May 2010, the PIU of the Global Fund in Azerbaijan in collaboration of the UNAIDS, conducted an assessment of the National HIV/AIDS M&E system. The primary goal of the M&E system assessment was to identify strengths and weaknesses in the country multi-sectoral M&E system and to develop recommendations for strengthening the system over time. A two-day workshop was attended by representatives from all the sectors that contribute to the National HIV M&E System and included representatives of Ministry of Health, Republic AIDS Center, government departments, networks of civil society organizations and other implementing partners such as the privat sector and UN agencies.

International AIDS Memorial Day 2010 in Baku [ 21.05.2010 ]

305 Azerbaijani citizens died from the AIDS

Every third Sunday in May, people around the world gather to honour and celebrate the lives of those who have been affected in some way, by the global HIV epidemic. But the event is also much more than just a memorial, as it provides opportunities for leadership development, policy advocacy, partnerships, and improvement of community mobilization skills. It also provides journalists and members of the media with an opportunity to raise awareness about people within their own communities who have been affected, in any way, by the epidemic.
